Grand Central Terminal’s visitors and shopping
Opened in 1971, the Grand Central Terminal, commonly called Grand Central Station, is a popular place for New Yorkers and visitors alike to congregate. Besides being a hub for people catching a subway, there is quite a bit for visitors to see and do. You can find many different specialty shops, retail stores, and even a variety of restaurants. They have every kind of restaurant from casual eateries to fine gourmet dining. Whatever you are in the mood for, you will find it there. You will also notice that there are a great many things to see while at the station. The Sky Ceiling, painted blue with a starry background featuring several constellations is sure to catch your attention, as is the Beaux Arts Interior with its vaulted ceilings and arched windows. Vanderbilt Hall is also a good place to visit, as it often has exhibits, which change frequently. They have showcased everything from tennis to arts and crafts. You will also want to see the Grand Staircases. While it is permissible to take photographs in Grand Central Terminal, one cannot use equipment such as a tripod without prior permission. The station makes a grand place to visit while in the city.
