New Honda – A Company History
Honda Motor Company is a multi-national company that was formed in 1948. The company headquarters is located in Tokyo, Japan. The first New Honda vehicle went on sale in August 1963. The company produced the a mini pickup truck known as the T360. In October of that same year, the company began producing its first car which was a sports car named the S500. Over the years since then, the company has produced many different makes and models of vehicles.There are several previous New Honda vehicles that the company has manufactured. In the past, the company has manufactured the Passport, the Prelude and the Integra. Other mentionable names include the Accord Hybrid, the Ascot and the Advancier. The company has manufactured automobiles and trucks as well as motorcycles and engines of varying types. In 2006, the Ridgeline won the Truck of the Year award from Motor Trend magazine. Also in that year, Motor Trend awarded the Car of the Year award to the redesigned Civic. This gave the company the rare double win from the magazine.There are current several New Honda models being produced by the company. One of the most popular models is the Accord. The Accord was first produced in 1976. In 1982, it became the first Japanese car to be produced in the United States. The Honda Civic is also another model the company is currently producing. Production on the Civic began in 1972. Since that time, the Civic has seen nine different generations with the current one being produced just since this year.In addition to the New Honda models, the company has also had a presence in motor sports. The company first entered into motor sports in 1964 with their entry into the German Grand Prix. In 1965, the team scored their first point in the Belgian Grand Prix. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company saw six wins in Formula One racing. In 2008 in response to the global economic situation, the company announced that it would be leaving the Formula One racing immediately. The company also has a presence in motorcycle racing.
