No Keys Necessary: The Evolution of the Car Key

When you go to the dealership nowadays to buy a car, among the other things the salesperson will tell you, one of them just might be that there will be no keys necessary for the vehicle.  No keys necessary?!  But, how will you drive your car?  Don’t worry, it’ll be as easy as pushing a button.  No, really.  With the advances in technology, the evolution of the car key over the years has seen many changes.  The most recent change is that people no longer need car keys to unlock, start or drive their vehicles.  Instead, many dealerships are advertising vehicles that have key fobs instead.  A key fob is a small device that you can attach to your key chain.  It contains a microchip inside of it that is specifically designed for your vehicle.  All that you have to do is…well, nothing if you want.  Just put the key fob in your pocket or purse-just put it somewhere on you.  When you are standing at your vehicle, all you’ll have to do is pull the door handle a certain way and get into your car.  Once you’re in your car, instead of putting your key into where the ignition should be, you press a button that says "start".  It’s as simple as that.
