This is a trade that lets you make a profit when a stock falls in value.  Most people assume that Stock Market Day Trading only involves buying a stock and expecting the price to rise.  When you do a short trade, you sell stock that you don’t really own. You borrow stock from a broker and sell it to someone else for a certain period of time, when the price falls tehn you buy the stock again at a lower price than what you sold it for and give it back to the broker you borrowed it from.
