Cyprus Mountains
26 July 2008
The Troodhos mountain ranges in Southern Cyprus are of extreme importance. They cover approximately one quarter of the total land.
The mountain ranges are popular with tourists. The popularity is enhanced by their sheer beauty and for nature watching, by following the set trails. It is also possible to participate in sports such as skiing and mountain biking.
Mount Olympus is the highest peak in Cyprus. In winter months, Mount Olympus is the only realistic skiing site in Cyprus. As in similar terrains, the weather is subject to sudden changes. Thus, tourists are recommended to pack extra clothing, as the weather can deteriorate, often with little warning.
