Car Rental Insurance Offered with Some Credit Cards

There are a number of benefits available to credit card holders that are not related to low interest rates or cash back programs.  Not only do many card companies offer various benefits that are related to making purchases such as rebates and other discounts but many cards also provide additional services that aren’t usually part of the highly advertised package that will be offered for benefit cards and credit cards for bad credit.  One of the most interesting types of card benefits offered that most people have no idea exists is the aspect of car insurance for rental purchases.

A number of credit cards possess built in card insurance that will be engaged in the event a cardholder uses his account to rent a car.  The way a person can use card insurance is to make sure, first of all, that the purchase is made on the card and that after the charge goes into a fact that the insurance option offered by the rental company is declined.  The insurance provided by a card company will likely not be able to piggyback on the insurance that might be provided by the rental company itself.

There is a potential savings of ten to twenty dollars per day depending on the particular car rental company used and which card is used in conjunction with the rental.  Not all card companies offer the same rental insurance benefits and so it is a good idea to read over the terms and conditions offered by a card company before their insurance is used.
