The Trouble With Premenstrual Insomnia

Premenstrual insomnia is a condition that is not often talked about, but still a big problem.  What happens is that women see a sharp drop in the hormone progesterone.   This causes women to often wake up in the middle of the night.Premenstrual insomnia affects REM sleep, or deep sleep.  A study by a researcher at the University of California San Francisco found that women who are going through PMS get no deep sleep at all. Dr. Kathryn Lee also found that 67 percent of women who menstruate have trouble sleeping two or three nights a week each time they go through a menstrual cycle
