Shave the dog

Owning pets and trying to have a clean home can be a bit of a nightmare. It is really hard to keep a house smelling and looking good when you have a couple of dogs. Whenever I enter my house I always get an instant whiff of dog. This is far from a nice thing, dogs stink. So I am trying to combat this as much as I can by cleaning carpets and where possible changing the carpet to either vinyl flooring or laminate flooring. Hopefully this will help me to combat the whiff. I have previously tried scented candles plug ins, but they all fail to mask the smell.

Before I make the big change and get all my flooring changed, I just wanted to find out if anyone has any  ideas on how to de-dog my house without actually getting rid of the dogs.  And please do not suggest shaving them!
