If you are not familiar with the kinds of things dogs need, you should make an appointment to see a veterinarian before you get a dog to get some dog training tips.  Most will spend a few minutes with you to tell you about what kind of collar you need, what kind of shampoo and other grooming things are best for your chosen breed, and help you come up with ideas for toys.  Most pet stores and some other retail stores carry a wide selection of dog training products ranging from food and bowls to toys and beds.  When shopping always read the labels on products like flea medicine and shampoo to be sure that your pet is the right age and/or weight to use the product.  You will also see that things like toys come in different sizes, so be sure you pick one that fits your pet’s mouth so that you do not end up with damage from over straining or broken teeth.
