The equity percentage of a property investment is arrived at by determining the payment amount you can afford on the loan. Typically, it is tailored to match your current loan payment amount. In a real estate investment trust, yields are more easily projected due to the long term contractual nature of commercial leases. This is not necessarily true for residential property. If ABC mortgage broker says he can give you a 7% interest rate, call up XYZ mortgage broker and ask them if they can beat it. You may be surprised at the results.
