Is Credit Card Debt bad or good?
There are always 2 sides to each coin. Some people say that credit card debt is always good, but can become bad credit when you reach an amount that puts you at a certain percentage (high) of your limit.
For example; if you have a credit card with a limit of $10,000 dollars the most you want to owe is 50% or $5,000 dollars, but your rating will be higher if your debt to loan amount is under 20% or $2,000. So, bad debt is having a $6,000 balance on a credit card with a $10,000 limit. The other side of the coin is all debt is bad and cash is king. The only problem I have with this mantra is it usually takes good debt to build your credit profile high enough that you’re able to then use your good credit to make enough cash for saving.
