Photographers and good Christchurch wedding venues

You might be surprised what a wedding photographer will charge (or want to charge) if you’ve never hired one before. I know my wife and I were when we started preparing for our daughter’s wedding last year and shopped around for a photographer and a christchurch wedding venue

Prices could start at $950 but could also rise to $10,000.

Where do you want to go with a range like that? In the middle? Too nervous to look at the low end? Can’t afford the high end?

Well, be prepared to spend at least $1500 because a reprint will cost you perhaps $25 each. A photographer who is starting out and has not made a name for himself (or, increasingly, herself) will cut their price in the darkroom and charge perhaps as little as $10 a print. A well established photography business will charge you four times that. So, if you are going in the middle, then expect t to pay around $25 for each print. That’s how we get our price of at least $1500.

But another way to look at it is to say that the photography component of a wedding will often be 10-15 percent of the total cost. Some couple will make that 30 percent of the bill.
