Computers - help or menace?

Most days I think Computers, specifically the Personal Computer, are the most important and useful invention of my lifetime. Other days I just want to throw them out the window. Yes our PC is both a help and a menace, a gift and a curse. Computers definitely make our lives easier, but all too often they dont do what they are supposed to do. Why is that? Is it Deus ex machina (ghost in the machine?). No, probably it has more to do with the fact that they are programmed by humans and sit on a somewhat unstable electrical grid that is maintained by humans. So does that mean I am really to blame?
