No Longer a Second Class Citizen

As a child, I never learned to read very well. I don’t know if it was because I missed a lot of school, because my parents worked too much to really help me, or because my teachers just didn’t care enough. But, whatever the reason, I just slipped through the cracks. I learned to compensate and became really creative at finding other ways to get my work done. I was able to graduate from high school with no one the wiser. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized what a disservice I’d done myself. I finally got some tutoring services. They were able to teach me to read, and now I don’t feel like a second-class citizen.
