DSL & Cable

Do you need to compare DSL cable broadband characteristics? First of all, remember that broadband is just a general term for any type of Internet access that is high speed, faster than dial-up. Therefore, both DSL and cable are examples of broadband Internet access. DSL and cable are actually fairly similar - the key difference between the two is how their modems physically connect to the Internet service. A DSL modem connects to a phone line and a cable modem connects to a TV cable. Either type of connection uses some sort of splitter so that both Internet and phone service or Internet and TV can come through the same line but be received by the proper devices.
