Kindle 2 Launch Helped By Stephen King

It wouldn’t do, when analysing the success of the Amazon kindle ebook reader, to underestimate the impact of celebrity endorsement and publicity. It has a huge impact on public awareness of any product. When Oprah declared, on prime time television, that she loved her new Amazon Kindle, sales went through the roof. So it’s perhaps unsurprising that, when Amazon came to launch their Kindle 2 in February 2009, they played the celebrity endorsement card again. Stephen King – one of the most successful authors alive I guess – wrote a Kindle exclusive novella, titled Ur, to help launch the Kindle 2.
