Safeguard your passport

Canadian passports are good for 5 years but if you reported a Lost Passport, it would take an estimate of two weeks for you to be able to get a replacement.  Getting a replacement is not as easy as applying for a new one because if you have to file a police report for a lost passport. The authorities will have to conduct an investigation and file a report. Once it is done, you will have to get a copy of the police report together with our proof of citizenship which is usually your birth certificate, another set of passport photo, application form, a photo of the identification page of the old passport if available plus the corresponding fee. Sounds like a lot of work to do. And it can be very stressful as well especially if you are abroad and will need your passport to travel back home. Safe guarding your passport is one of the must do when travelling to avoid the hassles and risk of not returning home on time.
