Schlitterbahn-Texas’ Oldest and Most Popular Waterpark
Schlitterbahn, which means ‘slippery road’ in German, is the largest and oldest waterpark in the entire state of Texas. The massive waterpark is located in New Braunfels in Texas Hill Country. Scores of people head to the park during the summer months to seek relief from the relentless Texas sun. The Schlitterbahn waterpark offers a variety of innovative and unique features including the first artificial wave machine in the world, a variety of watercoasters, seventeen water rides and easy access to the Gaudalupe River, which runs through the waterpark. Both adults as well as kids will find something at the park to enjoy. In addition to larger water rides, there are also numerous age appropriate water play areas for younger kids as well. While guests are welcome to bring in picnic baskets to the park with them, there are also numerous concession stands located around the park selling cold beverages and food items. A gift shop offers anything visitors might need while at the waterpark including swimwear, sunblock, sunglasses and commemorative items. The waterpark in New Braunfels is the original park in Texas. There are also two other Schlitterbahn parks in Texas as well, one based in South Padre and another in Galveston.
